Couples Counselling
Humans have a biological need to attach, bond, love and feel secure in their intimate relationships. Intimate relationships can only thrive when are emotional needs are met.
Sadly, most of us don’t learn how to identify our needs, let alone ask for what we need. When we then experience differences or ruptures in our relationships, we don’t have the communication toolswe need to repair and rebuild. Sometimes, we are so stuck in bad communication habits we make our difficulties worse with blaming, shaming or hurtful language.
It is possible to learn how to communicate thoughts and feelings openly, listen actively when your partner is talking and ask for what you want and don’t want in your relationship.
I take a decisive and practical approach which includes communication exercises and homework.
I will treat both of you and your histories with respect and won’t hesitate to (gently) point out any behaviours that run counter to your stated goals.
In addition to my psychotherapy training, I completed an intensive one year group PAIRS relationship training with my partner, as well as a 12-month Couples Training Program with couples psychotherapists Terry Cooper and Jenner Roth at Spectrum.
Additionally, I have completed Terry Real's Relational Life Training for Couples Therapists
I’m currently training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and am currently training in Intimacy From The Inside Out an IFS-led couples relationship therapy.
I welcome couples who identify as LGBTQIA+ and am a Kink-Aware therapist.
